Shoulder Resurfacing

A surgical procedure performed to replace the joint surface of the head of the humerus in the shoulder joint. An incision is made on the front of the shoulder and the shoulder joint is exposed. The worn ball of the shoulder joint is removed. A metal component is used to replace just the joint surface of the humerus bone. Once the component is secured the shoulder is checked to ensure appropriate range of motion and stability of the implant.
